Stacy Ash, birth and postpartum doula in central Illinois, since 2001
Doula: (origin/Greek) woman helper
: a woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support, and physical
comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth
Stacy became a doula in the Spring of 2001 and has been providing doula services longer than any other active doula in Central Illinois. Over the past decade she has attended dozens of births in hospitals, and homes in central Illinois. "Continuing education and training are important to me". Stacy initially completed all training and certification requirements through DONA (doulas of north america). Currently she is triple certified as a birth doula through Birth Arts International, and ProDoula, with a specialty certification through StillBirthday as a birth and bereavement doula. Stacy is also a pre-certified postpartum doula through ProDoula.
Stacy is married and has three children, and lives in Bloomington, IL. "Each of my own personal birth experiences were very different which spurred me onto to learn more about birthing options and practices. I feel my experiences also allow me to help clients to better understand their own options".
Stacy feels strongly that every woman can benefit greatly from the services of a doula. Her fees are based on providing you with a professional 100% non-judgmental service backed with extensive certification and experience.
"I have been asked many times what my birth philosophy is. My birth philosophy is a two part answer. I believe that birth works best when left alone. Our bodies know how to birth, and when left alone we move as we need to, and are uninterrupted by outside stresses and expectations. As a doula I believe that your birth is your birth, and your birth choices are what I will use my experience and passion to support - whether that be a hands-off natural birth, a birth with medical assistance, or a surgical birth".
